SportsSignup is based in Saratoga Springs, New York. Much of our community lost power and schools were closed for several days in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, but that doesn’t even begin to compare with the damage to other communities on the East Coast that got hit much, much harder. Some communities and families lost nearly everything due to flooding, damage caused by downed trees and the other devastating effects of any natural disaster.

In the face of great adversity it is always inspiring to see communities rallying together and US Youth Soccereveryone doing their part to help recover and rebuild. For their part, the US Youth Soccer Region I has established a Disaster Relief Grant Program for Region I clubs/organizations and is offering 20 grants, each worth up to $2,000, to US Youth Soccer affiliated clubs that have suffered damage as a result of the storm. In order to quality, leagues must prepare their grant application and return it to the State Office.

In addition, Eastern New York Youth Soccer is offering matching grants to their current clubs.

Here are a few important dates about the grants:

  • Hurricane Relief Grant Applications packages must be received in the Region I Office on or before December 15, 2012.
  • Grant Approvals will be placed on the Region I website on January 15, 2013
  • Grant Checks will be mailed January 21, 2013.

We know how youth sports can really bring a community together and are proud to see US Youth Soccer making the effort to help multiple communities get their kids back on the field.

To apply for a grant your organization must be affiliated with your State Association and with US Youth Soccer.  All players must be registered with your US Youth Soccer State Association.
